TK Wonder: On and Off Stage Style

Wrapping up the Vieilles Charrues festival in France with internationally acclaimed musician/producer/composer, Kiril Džajkovski as the opening act for the one and only Sting and Justice, Lyricist/Songwriter/Singer, TK Wonder is back in the states for a short recuperation before she heads right back to her European tour with Džajkovski. No amateur to packing light and living in a world where a carry on is a must, style came into the forefront as I was curious to how her performance style developed over the years. Comfort and color were the first thoughts that came to mind as TK seemed to be on the same frequency (then again we are twins) in stating…

“Being comfortable is the ultimate factor. I move around quite a bit whether I’m dancing or working the stage so being comfortable is imperative. Sometimes I feel like I sweat out an entire being on stage because I’m constantly moving so material that absorbs sweat without leaving sweat stains, nothing like a big ol’ sweat stain in front of 80,000 people. Also bright colorful, colorful, colorful outfits whenever I get the chance!”

After my curiosity was quenched I pushed a little further for a quick, impromptu photo shoot of her style when preforming, but since her life is not entirely played out on the stage TK shared a few looks of her off stage style as well.

Sigh, lastly let me just state if she wasn’t my twin she best be careful in not falling asleep around me, because every single piece of her off stage style would be missing in action, lol, just kidding…well maybe.

I found my new hair crush! Is her hair in locs or is it braided? Either way I love it, looks so healthy! I thought I would have been done with Forever 21 years ago but somehow I can buy a lot of stuff and dont ever pay over a $100!

  Well thank-you Poetsgroove! I really don’t mess with with my hair too much and this style has been great to have on the road. I’ll be traveling overseas a month to two months at a time sporadically through out the year so it’s imperative to have a style that’s easy to maintain. Also I adore Forever 21! But to be honest I do most of my shopping online and Forever 21 most of the time has quite a few choices that are not available in stores.

She is a beauty!! Just like her twin I heart her style and the logic behind it too. It’s fashionable yet comfortable and practical to fit her lifestyle. That’s how I try to shop, more so the latter. I’m no where near as stylish as you guys. Oh and the hair wow! I could only imagine how long it must be when it’s stretched, maybe down to her thighs??

Believe me I didn’t always use to be so stylish or think about comfort in clothing in particularly with shoes but now it is all about comfort! Especially when traveling, nothing worse then being on an 8 hour plane ride with your stomach begging to be liberated from a evil pair of suffocating jeans, lol.

Lovely but one question…what in God’s glorious name are feathered braids? did ya’ll make that styling technique up or something cuz i thought feather braids were when you braid the hair and alternate taking small sections of hair out as you go down…but i really love this look…its like somewhere between kinky twists and locs

  Merelymarie let me just say this…they are super comfortable and my favorite pair of tights EVER. Not at all scratchy. I’m trying not to rock them at every show but I’m afraid I’m failing miserably. I’m looking at other tights by House of Holland and I must say I am a big fan.

  Hey Milan, yes it’s difficult for me to do a hair tutorial because of my schedule. However it’s really quite simple (or perhaps simple for me since I’m use to doing them, lol) if you are familiar with braiding.
  
  For the bottom half of my head, at the base of my scalp I take a section of hair and start to braid. About a third of the way down I will leave the hair unbraided. I continue this technique for all the braids on the bottom half of my head.
  
  For the upper part of my head I will stop braiding my hair a quarter of the way down on the braids. Sometimes I alternate a quarter of the way unbraided, a third of the way braided, half the way braided so my braids on the top half of my head have a fuller look.
  
  However the key is: for hair on the lower half of the head you should leave the braids unbraided to a certain point mostly the same. And the hair on the upper half of the head to alternate the length of the unbraided ends. You will see as you go along your preference on how much of the braid you would like to leave unbraided and exactly how much of a ‘fuller’ look you would like when doing so.

  Yes it’s clear, lol. No I don’t run into that problem. When I co-wash my hair, I braid my hair to the end and when it’s dry I unbraid and moisturoze so it’s a braid out look. Then I began to braid my hair again leaving the ends out but the ends still are in a braid out look so my hair won’t tangle or knot. Then I wrap my hair in a scarf every night.
