Thanks for posting this video.  I’m a fan.  I’m curious, since you encounter so much tangling after two weeks, why not wash  at least once a week to keep your hair moisturized and to diminish the amount of tangles you have to deal with?  Or just co-wash, do big twists and THEN twist into your bun?

      • Cipriana

Oh no problem @cherylvargas:disqus  and glad you found us! To be honest it boils down to time and my schedule. As my hair get longer I realize it is just easier to wash my hair every month, where I can take a relaxing day and have quality wash time, versus trying to wash or co-wash every week rushing the process with my busy schedule and all this hair, lol. Believe me it took me years to find a regimen that works and this for me is working pretty good, if it wasn’t I would have switched to other methods long ago ;)

Great video. Wow, its interesting to see your routine up close and personal. I think you are the perfect example of doing what works for your hair.

Why would you need to change things if its working for you?

Also, Had to give a side eye to the girl that said you fear your hair on youtube. Don’t think that chick knew what she was talking about.

      • Cipriana

@BeautyIAm:disqus thank you so much and girl, that is just what we are trying to preach that there is more then one right way to manage natural hair. I think she mistook patience for fear. Some people have to realize that gentle care in handling our hair is actually a sign of strength. Hopefully my explanation helped but if not no biggie <3

Do you ever take out the 150 twists when washing? Or do you wash your hair with the twists still in ?

      • Cipriana

I keep the 150 loose twists in and place them in 8-14 big loose braids and wash via this technique @61ab8b83ec4846c724f7d54e0a782f1c:disqus .

        • Niarocks

this was 2 weeks ago, but i’m only just now getting around to watching this video and reading the comments…anyway, wow! i didn’t realize you also washed the loose twists while being in the big braids! so after you stretch/oil/detangle each loose twist to remove shed hair you re-loose twist it back up and continue with acv and washing? can’t wait to see the rest of your process! you really are the queen of protective styling! nia

How do you prevent your hair from loc’ing? I was once told that if I left my hair in twists for more than 2 wks, it would start to loc. Have you experienced any tendency to  llc since you leave your hair in small twists most of the time?
      Thanks!

      • Cipriana

It all depends on the individual’s hair, hair regimen and lifestyle. I notice the more product left on the hair especially non-natural oils (with mineral oil) and heavy based products can greatly increase loc’ing. Also my twists are smaller but since they are twisted loosely this helps to prevent extreme loc’ing but again since I have a very kinky texture my strands can’t stand to be apart so some loc’ing is natural but nothing that can not easily be detangled patiently @disqus_slGFdq8ZLX:disqus  ;)

Does your roots get matted? I have an issue with that

      • Cipriana

Yes, especially since this is where the hair is constantly growing and shedding but keeping products at a minimum (especially since the hair near the scalp has the best advantage of the natural oils your glands secrete) will help tremendously with decreasing matting @d6522bb7503d94f9f66a876f29ea7981:disqus .

I just love UBB. This site helps me with my own self confidence. It sounds strange, since its SELF confidence and all, but you girls have all helped me embrace whats me. I find myself happy and proud of my hair texture. Which means I have come a very long way.

And both of you are really great role models. Two women who are all about positivity, health, and not afraid to show that they are real people. It’s refreshing and inspiring to say the least.

If you two have the time, I would love to hear your take on building and maintaining your sense of confidence. I find that I easily get ruffled by others opinions and will hide my true self, so any advice will be appreciated!

But yes, ThankYou both for building this safe place for so many of us UBB out here all over the world!

@cc4599f3e5ff59df2d9c95852aa0bd37:disqus , I just got home and these are such beautiful words to arrive home to.  I mean, really, thank you so much. Believe me Nikisha and I were both there and this journey of self confidence was a long road and still continues to this day.

So good to hear you are making big leaps in your own self confidence and we feel blessed that people like your self are here to share our journey because are supporters inspire us as well.

I have a video where I speak a bit about self confidence and hair, if you just click this link –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6OIbvWjWZQ you can find the video on youtube.

Remember you only have one life, don’t let anyone dictate or prevent you from reaching your full potential especially when those who are so quick to judge are the most insecure.

Hope the video shares some insight and thank you so much again <3 <3

Hey C, have u thought about using a silk strip of fabric to tie instead of a band, so u further prevent any snags, or is it less secure for u than a band.

And thank u for ur tips, Ive had some major setbacks with my 4c, which was APL before putting a texturizer in due to single strand knots frustration. And ended up losing like a 1/5 of my hair due to shedding and breakage. I am restarting my journey using ur method of washing less frequently and oiling with organic oils and keeping my hair off my neck to prevent fraying. Please keep the 4c videos coming!
