Great video, and ignore those sarcy comments. People are so rude. Random but you have the best eyebrows. Stay fab!
Thank you so much. Most of the comments are extremely supportive and complementary but you know some people just have to go there, lol.
I don’t understand why people always got to say something about your regimen Cipriana? I feel like people get upset cause they want people to be like “Well yes ma’am natural hair is so easy to deal with and it only takes me 5 minutes to detangle. Yeah there’s nothing to it!” LOL! The reality of it is our hair takes work. I’ve spent hours detangling my hair as well and that’s what it takes if you don’t want breakage. They just don’t want to believe it haha Proof is in the pooding though. You have the longest 3c/4a ? (could be off) hair type I have EVER seen. We def have a close texture type so I understand EVERYTHING your talking about. I appreciate the long videos cause when you give the abridged version then you get people “Well she didn’t tell me such and such and what about this?”. The video may be long but I bet at the end you know what the hell she’s talking about? hahaha
I LOVE this hair do. I’m gonna have to re appropriate this for my head. I’d have to blow dry a bit for the volume but I make it work. LOL
Lol, sometimes you just have to laugh. I definitely think it plucks some feathers when I say maintaining my hair takes work. It is not difficult but just takes time and patience. You are absolutely right! I always feel it is better to have more than enough information than too little. I could definitely break the video down in two parts but come on when it comes to this type of process, two parts is useless, lol. You will be watching and then all of a sudden I interupt and say stay tuned till next week for part 2! You would be like ah hell no!
Thank you again, I really appreciate the support! So many sistas are just amazing and positive.
Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Love this video and it is greatly appreciated.
Much love, thank you so much
Excellent tutorial! I’m certain for many it will prove valuable as it has for me. I have been following your advice since you were 1st featured on BGLH and Cipriana, if it were not for you being so inspirational and down to earth with your advice, I may have simply given up with my 4bc-z hair. Thank you sister. Thank you.
BTW: That updo is FLY! Stay Beautiful!
Roissy your words mean so much! Thank you! I use to wonder why I could not do my hair in a quick fashion and achieve amazing results like everyone else. It took me years to realize that patience was and is the biggest factor in the success of my hair today.
Thank you again so glad you like the new updo :)))
I’m loving your new hair style. The Challa definitely deserves a styling video.
I wondered if you’d checked out the vintage West African postcards from the early 1900′s on blackgirllonghair.com
Your gorgeous creations really remind of these beautiful traditional hairstyles. Maybe you’re channelling some of your ancestors when you come up with these ideas!
Luvh, maybe I am. Thank you so much and I am definitely going to checkout those postcards, sounds so interesting and maybe I can create some new styles after viewing them. Thank you for letting me know
I see you Miss Cipriana, just taunting us with that beautiful, magnificient hair of yours. It gives me hope. I showed the blog to a friend of mine, telling her I aspired hair like yours and she told me it couldn’t be done. Well I hope to prove her wong. But breakage is ridiculous. My hair is barely shoulder lenght but Imma try the 150 lose twists. Tryna get that lenght retention.
Stay fabulous and we gon need a Challah bread tutorial.
Hahaha you are fabulous!!!! Thank you so much Flore.
Tell your friend it can be done and I will definitely do a hairstyle tutorial on this style
Cipriana you are beautiful as always and I really appreciate your explanation, it definitely increased my understanding on hair manipulation. I am considering locs, so I was wondering: what is the difference to you between having small permanent locs and re-making small twists every month? Thank you!
Laura thank you so much! Your words mean the world
People always ask me do you ever consider locs, lol. I find them extremely beautiful but I just prefer the way my hair is in this state.
i don’t mean to be rude buts the point of having long hair like yours if all you can do is wear it in a bun? seems like too much work that you can’t even show off.
Well if you take a look at our YouTube video titles “You Decide What My Next Hairstyle Should be + Why I wear such “crazy” updos” I really go in depth in answering your question but long story short I wear updo styles because I LOVE it!!! My buns and updo styles are not rocked solely for retaining length. If I didn’t love it I would wear my hair out more often, plus my hair is so huge even when I have it up its like wearing it out.
How sad is it that, while watching the video, I was nodding and even yelled “Preach, girl!” at my laptop? Now that I am becoming wise to the ways of the finger detangling sensei (read: Cipriana), I too find that starting at the roots and also focusing my oil distribution on the roots AND ends is the key to my success.
I tend to use my thumb as my #1 detangling tool. The way multiple teeth in a comb or several bristles in a brush work, I use only one thumb, and separate and align my strands from root to tip. Just as importantly, I take my time, section by section. The main difference is, my “love potion” is a *light* misting with water, and then a *not light AT ALL* coating with extra virgin coconut oil. This is, hands down, the best “detangler” I have come across, yet.
I love seeing how similar textures can arrive on such similar methods– completely separately from one another, through simple trial and error. What a great video!
Hey HairItIs :DDD Hahaha I just got a mental image of you talking to your laptop saying preach, lol. Just made my morning!!! Thank you so much! You just said the 3 most important factors! Patience, root to tip and a whole lotta oils, lol. These factors have been my saving grace in detangling!
You are words are golden!!! Thank you as always <3
Hi Cipriana! Thank you so much for the video. When you dry finger detangle how do you do for the detangled sections not to tangle again after they’ve been done (while your doing the rest of you hair)? It’s a great problem for me. (Don’t know if it’s clear enough…excuse me I’m french and don’t speak english very well)
