Just want to say I loooove your site! Thank you for this video. I have learned SO much from Part 1 and Part2. Even though I live for natural hair I am still learning thank you again. I have one request, I love that Cipriana shows her protective styles, could Nikisha show her protective styles? Just trying to get more visual ideas on how to get my hair to its fullest potential. Again you BOTH are amazing and a true blessing. Merry Christmas!
Portia, you are a blessing!!! So glad we could help! Thank you so much for your kind words. I really wish you knew how appreciated they truly are. Merry Christmas <3
How many two strand twists do you do?
Hi Sofia I do some where between 12-16 twists.
Thank you both so much for this video, it was very insightful!
However i wanted to ask Cipriana specific question – i’ve got type 4ish, thick hair with superfine strands and I’ve recently switched to finger detangling in an effort to minimise breakage and retain length, and fully detangling my hair with oil in sections before washing it isn’t a problem, howeverrr after ive washed my hair and let it air dry no matter how much i’ve finger detangled prior to washing, once my hair is dry and i take down the twisted sections i’m left with tangled, rock hard matted roots and it’s driving me crazyyy! I’ve tried moisturising with a leave-in , oil rinsing, conditioning ect to no avail. I’m aware that you solely finger detangle and I was wondering if you’ve ever had this issue and if so what you did to combat it because i don’t want to blowdry my hair everytime i wash it but letting it air dry seems to wreak havoc on my roots…please help!!
Thank you guys for this website and all the advice and videos you’ve posted so far, its fantastic! I hope to hear from you soon, Merry Christmas from the UK! xx
Thank you so much, so glad to help First let me ask, has this experience with dryness just occurred or is it something you experience regularly? Also what is your diet and water intake. Are you on any medication? How do you wash your hair, freeform or in a protective style. Are you using shampoo to wash your hair?
Let me know the answers to these questions and I may be able to help. Thank you again and Merry Christmas! xxxxx <3
Hey Cipriana, thanks for the response the dryness does occur more often than not, but usually following it up with water/water-based leave in and sealing my hair with oil seems to help, it’s just the matted, locked roots that i get every single time. My diet’s pretty consistent and balanced, and i drink alot of water. I’m not on any medication and i try to wash my hair in 6-8 sections twisted at the bottom (they tend to unravel but not so much that the sections cant be distinguished). I use shampoo on my scalp, and follow up with conditioner on my hair. I’ve tried co-washing but my hair has quite a low porosity and i seem to get buildup so i’m not sure if it agrees with my hair type. Hope this helps!
Of course It may be as simple as the shampoo you are using. I use to wash my hair with shampoo years ago and had the same results, extremely dry strands especially around the rooted areas since I tended to concentrate this area the most with shampoo. Five years later I stopped using shampoo and switched to washing my hair with conditioner. Problem was rectified but since you have low porosity strands I would suggest finding a 100% all natural shampoo. Also due to your porosity you have to watch out for the amount of oil you use during detangling because this can make it more difficult to get rid of past buildup if you have low porosity strands.
Also one more question, how often do you wash your hair?
Wow, never would’ve thought of that! I usually wash my hair once every 2 weeks, around the time when my scalp starts to itch from buldup.
Thank you so much for the advice Cipriana, i really appreciate it, and will let you know how it goes!
Ok so once a week is not bad at all. Definitely let me know if this helps, if not will try to battle this dryness somehow! It will be defeated, lol! Your welcome and blessings ;D <3
Great video! I have a question for you guys though, in a post awhile back ,Cipriana, you spoke of products that contain mineral oils and that candle accident that affected your strands. I wondered if you thought products containing ‘pure mineral jelly’ can be iffy to use as well? Is there a big difference or not between mineral oil and jelly, you think? Look forward to your opinion.
just wanted to say…boiling water does not make it distilled. it just concentrates the minerals (which makes it even worse). distilled water is the STEAM from boiled water. what’s left behind is all the hard minerals. kinda like if you simmer something down until it’s thickened.
