Click ‘Read More + Comment’ for additional photos. During New York’s Fashion week, I was invited to Harlem Fashion Row’s Blogger Brunch, held at Jean George; 5 star restaurant in Trump Hotel. Moderated by CEO of Harlem Fashion Row, Brandice Henderson, guests tuned in to invaluable insight on building your brand, from a panel that included, Claire Sulmers of Fashion Bomb Daily, Karen Williams, Creative Director of IMAN Cosmetics and Jewels Barron, Creative Director of Shea Moisturewhile enjoying delicious lox and bagels, eggs, french toast, fresh fruit, assorted doughnuts with freshly squeezed orange juice. 

 

Williams and Barron shared how to approach powerhouse companies regarding advertising such as Shea Moisture and Iman Cosmetics, delving into professionalism, the ladies expressed initial presentation via email, demonstrates so much about the company or individual, stating something as simple as grammar can give a wrong impression. Williams and Barron also talked numbers (weekly readers/social media) and said yes, numbers help in backing a company with advertisers but smaller brands should not be intimidated, having a close connection with your audience is just as important and can help show your growing potential.
 
Claire Sulmers, of popular fashion site; Fashion Bomb Daily talked about her two biggest factors in her successful site; being constant and consistent, advertisers look for those who are constantly blogging or writing daily and forming close connections with your audience. Sulmers also noted for the future of Fashion Bomb Daily that she would be more present in the scene rather than just behind. 
 
The brunch concluded with massages, products from one of our favorite brands; Shea Moisture and a look at Iman’s cosmetics ingenious app, that takes a self snapshot and chooses a foundation and cosmetics such as lips and eyes that complement your skin tone.
