Hello everyone, I know I have been M.I.A. for these past few weeks, but it’s for good reason! My long distance relationship is over!!! Over 2 years ago when I was dating Carl, he lived in Manhattan and worked as a software engineer. During that time he began taking graduate school courses at the School of Visual Arts because he wanted to switch careers. His next goal was to become a graphic designer. Shortly after he finished his classes and built a portfolio he got an amazing job offer as a senior visual designer. The only catch was that the job was located in Washington D.C. which left me like, “how the heck are we gonna still see each other?!”. We both decided that we would see each other every weekend and we made it happen! I went to D.C. almost every weekend with my son Jaden, and Carl would come to New York some weekends. It was a big commitment but we made it work and it became apart of my life. People would say,”Dang, you must love him to be traveling on a bus one way for 4 hours and 30 minutes to see him every weekend”. And the truth is, it was very easy for me and it didn’t feel like a lot. I loved him that much and he was too much of a great catch to let something like distance come between us. So finally after over 2 years of traveling on a bus for thousands and thousands of miles, and hundreds and hundreds of phones calls we got married and we are moving in together for the first time. I am so excited and happy. And I finally get to live in a house instead of my tiny apartment! God has been so good to us and we have been praying about our relationship for a long time and waiting patiently. We just got back from our honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii and I’ve been packing up my whole apartment by myself and just getting everything situated for Jaden’s new school, finding new Doctor’s, and looking for a new job in the Washington D.C./ Virginia area (which I haven’t found yet). It’s been a lot, so I haven’t been able to write any posts. Please bear with me and I will be back soon! I can’t wait to share the photos and video from our wedding, I’m waiting for the photographers and videographer to send me everything!

Here is a beautiful quote I found about long distance relationships:

“Distance is not for the fearful, it is for the bold. It’s for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It’s for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don’t see it nearly enough…” -Unknown

I hope this encourages anyone who has ever ruled out being in a long distance relationship! :)
