OKAY NIK I CAN’T TAKE IT NO MORE~ You’re sooo gorg!
Aww…thank you so much for your beautiful words They Call Me Simba :).
thanks, im going to try this…..you did a great job!!
Your welcome Charlotte, and thank you!
You are stunning! How can you reach the back of your head, is there a method that you use?
Thank you so so much for such a beautiful compliment Erika. I don’t think I use a special method :). I make my part and pull it to the side so I can twist it. I hope that helps you out
I have in box braids right now and was always iffy about doing twists with marley hair. But you definitely made them look good! I’m gonna try this! Thanks for the tutroial Nikisha
Your welcome and thank you so much Rachel! It never hurts to try them out to see if you like them. That’s what I did, and I love them :).
I just did two strand twist in my hair and wished they were thicker and longer (my hair is to my bra strap but there is still perm at the ends) anyway these are perfect for a protective style and way easy to do! I can’t wait to try them.
That’s how I feel when I do mines just_cris, plus I get a lot of shrinkage when I do two strand twists.
Yaaaaay ! A new video from you Nikisha ! I was thinking about it yesterday because i was missing you ! So happy to hear you. The Marley Twists are so beautiful on you. Be bless !
Xo from Paris, France
Awww….thank you so so much Rose, you’re too sweet! I’m happy to be back :). God bless you love! Sending you love…xoxo
You look amazing! I’m not gonna lie, I did not read the title at first I thought immediately you did a fresh blowout and had some really long twist! I did watch the video. They look really good. I had some box/Poetic Justice braids put in last week, and I’m loving the break from my hair. I may give the Marley twist a try around the Xmas break.
Lol….I wish my twists were that thick after a blowout :). You should definitely try them :).
And thank you so much for the lovely compliment Crystal :). xoxo
How long do Marley Twists typically last?
If you’ve ever done two strand twists on your own hair you can see how long they last and estimate that the Marley Twists will last a bit longer than that time. I hope that makes sense. On my hair it will only last a week as long I tie it down with a scarf every night, and I usually have to retwist the ones in the front about every 2 days. But some women have twists that will last 2 weeks or more. So it all depends on how your hair holds certain styles
I definitely love it and gonna do this straigt away ! Thanks a lot guys For what you doing ^^
Your so welcome Sabrina! I hope you like them as much as I do! We appreciate you!!!
I absolutely loved this tutorial. I plan to do my hair this
weekend in the Marley Twist. I like how yours look like Lisa Bonet’s hair….cute!
Thank you so much Tomeka! I hope your twists are a success!!!
@e4f2db0994670ba66fed134f311a06e3:disqus I remember when you were talking about doing these early last summer, so glad you did! Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!
Thank you so much Cipriana!!! Yes, I have wanted the Senegalese twists for a while now, and these were a great and easy alternative :).xoxo
Hey Nik I love your twists. How many did you do?
I did about 28 twists I started to count as I was doing it and then just stopped..lol.
You look so pretty! Of course you always do but it’s a different look for you. Love it.
Awww…thank you so much Camillia. It is different and it’s nice to change it up from my normal two strand twist. I’ll definitely be rocking them more!
You look great! I’m definitely going to try this! how long was the hair you used?
Thank you so much Helio! I believe all packs of the Marley hair are the same length :). Mines was 19″.
Love it will definitely try!!!!!
Thank you -MAP!!!
I love this look! I think I’m going to try this when I go to california in december. I have a random question Nikisha: Do you know the measurements of your septum jewelry? Like, the gauge and diameter?
Thank you so much Rheannan :). My septum is 16G but I don’t know the diameter.
your face is the money, hon, but your hair is a close second
Thank you so so much Janet!!!
Hi Nikisha – I LOVE THIS LOOK ON YOU! well done. I remember some time
ago you posted on how you practice yoga now. I do too, and last time i
got box braids i had to take them off like 10 days later because they
were too heavy and i basically couldn’t run or practice! i love the
marley twists, and i was wondering if you could let me know if they are
very heavy or do you think they’re easy going and could you practice
yoga with them on?
love always and keep posting!
Hi mmmiiiiiimmmmiiii :), THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Great memory you have there!!! I don’t have that many twists in my head which you should take into account before putting them in. They do have weight to them, but you would still be able to practice yoga and run, I strongly suggest you keep the number of twists below the 28 count just to be on the safe side :).
Absolutely stunning! How did you figure out the sectioning?.., your twists fall so nicely.
Thank you so so much Li S!!! I have been sectioning my own hair for a long time now, so I’m use to it. But I start from the farthest right side and make a part going from the front of my head to the back of my head. Then I section that part one at a time, putting in twists one at a time. Then once I put twists in that whole part, I start my next part and make sections. You should try anyway that is comfortable for you, and you will get the hang of it :). You can also ask a friend or family member for help if they’re available.
do you like the thinness of it? im afraid to get them done to where they look too thin. I have seen some nice twist and they look so full and luscious. I want mine where you cant see the parts, but its so tough because once I get it done its done.
Hey no, I like how I did mine because the weight of the Marley hair doesn’t weigh my hair down to the point of breakage. When putting in extensions you have to be aware that your adding weight to your hair which can lead to your real hair breaking off. You would have to create much smaller sections in your hair and add a thicker amount of Marley hair to get the effect of not seeing the part. This means there will be more weight hanging off of a smaller amount of your hair which can lead to tension and to hair breakage. So if you think your hair can handle the weight then go for the look your looking for :).
great tutorial! even i could do this!
Thank you monniej
Greetings from Cincinnati! your hair looks amazing !! I was wondering, can u avc soak this hair to combat the itchiness of synthetic hair? Or can I spray the hair/scald with acv after I’ve installed it?
Thank you for your time.
Hi Honeymooner25, thank you so much for the lovely compliment! You can spray your scalp with acv/water mixture keeping in mind there will be some odor, but I don’t recommend spraying the actual hair with the acv. You can spray the actual hair with another mixture which is made up of water and glycerin to keep your hair moist.
I have never seen it done this way….Love it.
Thank you so much Free :).
I absolutely love how your hair came out! You made it look so effortless. I want to try it myself but does the Marley hair irritate your scalp? Also, does it feel heavy? The sides of my hair are fragile when it comes to adding hair for braiding. I would like to know before I try it.
Thank you so much Martine. The Marley hair doesn’t irritate my scalp at all. It is a bit heavy, that’s why I opted to make the parts in my hair bigger so it could hold the weight of the Marley hair better :).
Thank you Nikisha!
this was an amazing tutorial. i’ve been wanting long chunky twists for almost a year now but i couldn’t find a twister/braider in my area and never felt that i would be good enough at them. after watching this i feel like i can do them myself, although i know the first time may be a bit rough.want to go to sallys now and get some hair and start this weekend. thanks so much for the video!!
Thank you so so much SA! I have to give my husband credit for taking his time to film and edit the video, he also made the music, which I believe all did wonders for how the final product came out. I hope you enjoy them!
How many twist do you have? I tried marley twist about a month ago and they didn’t come out as nicely as yours…
On a side note, nice blog
Thank you j.jr. I have about 28 twists :). Keep practicing, you’ll get it.
I have hair texture that is similar to yours and lately, I have been mistreating it a little bit. So i’m looking into protective where I would manipulate them as little as possible, if at all. I’m thinking about wearing beanie turbans but I’m afraid of buying online in case my hair can’t all fit underneath. As for buying it in stores, I have yet to see them here in Switzerland. So the second option is doing Marley twists (awesome look on you btw) but I don’t know how long they will last. When I do 2 strand twists on my hair, I can only have them for 3 days and that’s kinda pushing it/hiding the front under headbands Do you still have your Marley twists on and do you wear them down All the time?
PS: sorry if my.post is so long!
Hi! I loveeeeeee this look and I was wandering how long it took you to put this amount in? I can’t wait to try it! and can you explain a little bit more on how you clean your scalp with them in? Thaaaaanks!:)
How do I get in contact with you girls?
