If you are in the New York area or planning just an impromptu dinner then you do not want to miss Paradou, a French cuisine restaurant in the heart of the meatpacking district. The restaurant is named after a beautiful small village in the region of Provence (south eastern France on the Mediterranean). Paradou boasts a vast selection of 40 French wines offered by the glass or bottle which all can be enjoyed in what really is the modern day Secret Garden.
There hidden year round garden is an ideal spot for dining especially during the weekends when they offer their unlimited champagne cocktail brunch specials which is $29 for one choice of any entrée’ off the brunch menu such as Pulled Pork Sliders with Sautéed Fingerling Potatoes: which is slowly roasted with white truffle mayo, brioche Roll, mesclun greens. French Toast with Fresh Berry Compote. Omelette Paysanne: an omelette with country-style thick cut bacon, andouille and goat cheese. Shakshuka: Eggs Poached in a Middle Eastern Vegetable Stew of Tomatoes, Onions & Peppers also bacon or merguez sausage can be added. Steak and Eggs: Grilled Shell Steak with Scrambled Eggs, Sautéed Fingerling Potatoes & Salad. Really Big Burger with Sautéed Fingerling Potatoes: bacon, blue cheese, goat cheese or gruyere are the available toppings. Amazingly this is just half of what they have to offer from their brunch menu. Also champagne cocktails come in 5 flavors: Strawberry, mango, grapefruit, mimisoa and their signature Paradou X. The strawberry is my favorite because they actually use fresh strawberry puree’.
Brunch hours on Saturday are from 11AM-4PM but on Sunday brunch is extended to 7PM, while the DJ’s set begins at 2:30PM that plays everything from neo- soul-indie-world mixed with house. Let’s just say I was grooving while I was eating which is a deadly combination of pleasure. The atmosphere is perfect for a day/ night out with your friends or loved one. Trust you will not be disappointed!
