this is my pretty much my process. when i started taking good care of my hair, i had the easiest time detangling.
my method for 4b:
detangle on dry hair with fingers pulling out shed strands only. Do in sections.
Once done – no more detangling that wash day. No combs, no brushes.
I still don’t catch all the sheds but find my hair breaks feverishly if I try to comb it when wet, damp or loaded with conditioner. It hates hair tools because it’s fine.
Hi there, so I tried Yes to Carrots for the first time last night (Nikisha, we seem to have similar hair so I figured I would go fo it). I noticed after using it that the product contains sodium hydroxide at the end of the ingredients list. Seems like it is probably only being used as a ph balancer given how far down it is i think they may have just changed the formula. Do you think this will change your mind about using it? I’m not sure, I try not to use things that are on the natural hair avoid list (lye being one of them – aka sodium hydroxide) but I am thinking that it is probably such a low dosage that it wouldn’t have negative affects. I was planning on leaving it in (which I did yesterday), but maybe it can only be a rinse out. Thoughts? Oh and love you two, btw. Just discovered your blog/channel but you two are great.
@6953be08f46937866ca67fa192fe0124:disqus yes, I do know that while its not 100% natural I have had no problems using it as a leave-in or a wash out. My best advice for you is you can try it and let your hair tell you if it likes it or not. And thank you so much for the love, muah!!!
Herbal essence hello hydration is my life!!!!! Tht mixed with an acv rinse leaves my hair moisturized for days!!!
Hi Nikisha, do you only wet your hair during your weekly shampoo, or do you do mid-week co-washes too, without deep conditioning?
I find I need to wet mine every 3 days to reduce fluffiness and I don’t have 30 mins to spare on mid-week mornings to follow your detangling process (as much as I’d love to!)
I wash once a week and spritz my hair with water in a spray bottle and apply a bit of my leave in cream if my hair is super frizzy and I want to tame it a bit. But I like my hair fluffy and frizzy so I don’t mess in it too much, so no co-washing or other time consuming processes throughout the week for me.
i have a question for Cipriana. i wanna know how long you have worn your hair in twists? my hair is about the same hair type as you, and it kind of short so twists arent exactly fashionable for me. what did you do to retain length at that stage?
