You already know, I am not a product junkie, not a single thing wrong with it, I am certainly not here to judge but I gained my sobriety from PJA (Product Junkie Anonymous) years ago! When it comes to hair products, familiarity of what works has been part of my routine for many years so you may be wondering where this is going, because you know I am not one to stray from my hair routine…BUT it seems pigs do fly! A few days ago I tried a product called Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk by EDEN BodyWorks after my washing session and let me say I had AMAZING, yes, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G results.

First I have to keep it 100 in explaining how Eden Body Works Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk gained access to my extremely air tight hair regimen and that explanation boils down to one word…FREE and oh the “Healthy Hair Affair” ok, well four words. Every week I receive a wide range of offers from a plethora of products to test trial but since I am a creature of habit when it comes to my hair routine, I came to the realization those products are best suited for someone who would really put them to good use therefore I politely decline but a few weeks ago when I hosted the “Healthy Hair Affair” in DC I received a gift bag with goodies galore from EDEN BodyWorks. Now my first instinct was to pass it along to friends who would love to take full advantage of this amazing gift bag but when I caught wind of the natural fragrances of two of their products called ‘Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk’ and ‘Peppermint Tea Tree hair Oil’, I immediately had second thoughts and fell in love all at the same time. Not only is this leave in conditioner free of mineral (petroleum) oil, dyes, parabens or fragrances oils but contains many all natural ingredients, as for the hair oil, it is completely all natural.

Founded by 21 year old Jasmine Lawrence, at the ripe old age of 13, Lawrence created Eden BodyWorks from the detrimental results relaxers had on her tresses. Searching for all natural alternatives to replace products she had currently been using she soon began a concoction of her own, when her searches came up empty handed. Now in its 8th year of production, Eden BodyWorks is a multi-million dollar company and with appearances on Oprah, CNN, The Today Show and a nomination from Black Enterprise magazine for Teenpreneur of the year, EDEN BodyWorks can now be found online, Wholefoods and over 1,000 Walmarts across the country.

After using the Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk after my washing session, my hair was soft, smelled heavenly and moisturized (due to ingredients such as water which is the first ingredient in addition with, coconut and avocado oil, that both possess penetrating abilities into our hair shaft, in return providing real moisture). Some of the other ingredients include jojoba oil (the closest substance to our own natural sebum or oil), carrot seed, sweet almond, hemp, apricot, peppermint, and tea tree (anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties) oil as well as glycerin. For some glycerin may be a concern especially with cooler temperatures just over the horizon. Glycerin is considered a humectant which basically means it attracts and retains water from outside elements such as the air, and absorbs it within the hair shaft, which is ideal for non-porous strands during the summer when we deal with humidity. Now during  winter season when humidity is long and gone, in theory, since the glycerin cannot pull moisture (water) from the air consistently it will then draw from your strands causing a drying effect. To avoid this effect make sure one of the first or main ingredients your product contains is water when glycerin is included, this way the water will maintain the humectant as beneficial all year round.

The Eden BodyWorks carries an assortment of products ranging from shampoos, conditioners, leave in conditioners, and balms. As of now I am adding the Eden BodyWorks Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk as one of my monthly hair washing staples.  Though I am adding this product into my washing session, I believe this leave in conditioner coupled with my usual staples products such as my ‘Love potion’ #9 and formulated hair routine contributed to successful results. How I have implemented the Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk in my monthly washing session is as follows…

1) Place detangled hair into 12-14 big loose braids
2) Wash my loose braids with Vo5 Tea Therapy Conditioner
3) Let hair air dry till about 70-80% dry
4) Place ‘Love Potion #9’ on the loose braid by unbraiding
5) Then place a small amount (a dollar coin size) of Eden Body Works Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk on strands right after ‘Love Potion #9’ in a patting, squeezing, downward motion
6) Then twist (not braid) the section firmly (not too tight but a slightly loose firm) and let air dry.
7) Repeat steps 4-6 for each section of hair

The leave in conditioner left incredible slip to my hair and ends without the greasy or weighed down effect and also seemed to aid really well in defining my kinky curls for those who care for definition. Also remember this product has glycerin so for those who would be using this product weekly and want to maintain a stretched style I would recommend a small amount of this product or stick to theirPeppermint Tea Tree hair Oil

Has anyone else tried the called Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Milk or Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Oil by EDEN BodyWorks and what were your results?
