Click Read More/Comment for additional pictures. We were invited by designer Samantha Black of Sammy B designs to preview the 2012 Sammy B Fall/Winter Collection during Fashion week on February the 16th at the Ball Street Ballroom in Manhattan.
Presented by Jones Magazine, the Sammy B collection kicked off with a performance by R&B Singer, Olivia Longott with her single “Walk Away” then America’s Next Topmodel, Toccara took center stage opening the show. All runway models featured cosmetics by Iman while products from Carol’s Daughter were at hand. Besides the Sammy B collection, the show also kept guests more than content with an array of scrumptious cupcakes, candy and cocktails provided by Hypnotiq but despite the tantalizing goodies and stylish guests the night was far overshadowed by the inspiring and beautiful designer behind Sammy B.
Graduating with a BFA from the prestigious Pratt institute in New York, Samantha Black worked overtime, interning with Jill Stuart and Michael Kors, some of the largest fashion houses in the industry. After graduation Samantha moved to London where she worked personally with one of the most innovative, legendary and gifted designers of our time, the late Alexander McQueen. Returning to the states Samantha, took lead as the head designer of the entire women’s denim line at Jimmyz, owned by Aeropostale. Soon after Samantha took the leap and Sammy B was born.
To know the experience and history of Sammy B designs is to understand the woman behind the name. Hands down the repertoire of Samantha
Black’s extensive fashion background easily translates in the details and tailoring of each designed piece of the 2012 Fall/Winter Sammy B collection.
