Ever since I’ve moved out of NYC my scalp has been itchy and my hair has been drier than usual. I haven’t had dry itchy scalp since high school, so I’m like,” what the heck is going on?!!?”. I figured out that my hair and scalp hate the DMV area’s water supply..lol. This dilemma lead me to trying a new shampoo. I chose to try Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo for several reasons: I read a lot of great reviews, it was light on my wallet costing me $9.99 at Walgreens or Target, and the ingredients were all natural.

Their Claim: “Our gentle, all-natural shampoo will help soften, moisturize and repair damaged, over-processed hair.”

This shampoo did everything it claimed. As I applied it to my hair I noticed it had a thick moisturizing lather that seemed to be a mix of shampoo and conditioner. As I scrubbed my scalp down to my strands I also noticed it wasn’t tangling my hair up like my Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Shampoo does, it actually helped soften and semi detangle my strands. I was in the shower like “yes, this stuff has some slip!!!”. As I rinsed it out, my hair felt ubber soft, moisturized, and clean, something I have never experienced from a shampoo before. When my hair dried it was so frackin soft and shiny. This shampoo right here has helped my hair stay moisturized for days instead of just one or two days. My scalp has also been relieved of it’s dryness.  After two weeks of use I think it’s safe to say I will be adding this to my staple hair products. Although I’m not a fan of Shea Moisture leave-in creams because they seem to leave my hair dry, I am a fan of this shampoo and I highly recommend it! The ingredients are below.

Decyl glucoside- is a delicate cleanser derived from sugar beets and is the 2nd ingredient in this shampoo.

Ingredients: De-ionized water, Decyl Glucoside (sugar beets), African Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter), aloe vera leaf juice, Argan Oil, Panthenol (pro-vitamin B-5, rosemary extract, sea kelp extract, vitamin E, Lonicera Caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower and Lonicera Japonica (Japanese honeysuckle) flower extract.

***FYI: I’m still not sure if this shampoo clarifies or not, so I have been using an apple cider vinegar rinse every two weeks.
