Tell us your name and where you are from?
I am Jasmine Cann. I was raised unfortunately in Florida, moved around a bit (Georgia, California) and now I happily live in Denver, Colorado.

What do you do? Is there a resistance or compatibility with your
hair in your field of work?
Right now I am a student, blogger, and hopeful author. So…No.

How long have you been natural?
It has been almost three years now. Man, time flies.

Describe your hair?  What is your regimen?
My hair is alive. It behaves more like a knarly exotic houseplant. It’s dense, coarse, and coily. My hair care routine has simplified in the last few months, which seems to benefit my mop. I wash my hair every four days or so with Dr. Bronner’s lavender scented soap, and condition lightly with the ever-reliable Herbal Essence ‘Hello Hydration’. I then braid my hair into fifteen plaits with the aid of shea butter and the hair moisturizer by Lush ‘R&B’. After that, 30 Rock and bedtime. In between washes I keep my hair as soft as I can in dry, dry Denver with jojoba oil.

What is your best hair advice?
Honor your incomparable individuality. No one can be you, and no one has your exact hair type, unless you are a clone. A single regimen does not fit all. Listen to your body, and become conscious of the varied moods of your hair.

What is the strangest comment, request or hair story?
My husband and I were at the Hi-Dive watching two bands that we had recently interviewed, when this guy who looked like a broody, Twilight extra touched my hair. What a sneaky creeper! My husband was the one who witnessed it. I, on the other hand did not catch him, because my hair was so big that night that I did not feel it! When my husband told me what had happened, I was ready to bitch-slap the creeper. We however were there to represent our blog and get great pictures. So I let it go. If it ever happens again, I will be sure to lose my damn mind. Society only gets that one chance. That kid f*cked it up for every one else.

How would you describe your personal fashion style?
I am not fussy about fashion. Simplicity and durability speak volumes to me. I love feminine clothing, but I feel my most at ease in jeans and a worn in t-shirt.

What advice would you give to people who might be afraid to show
their true fashion for fear of being judged by others?
You are going to die, so why live in fear?

When it comes to your style who, what or where does your
inspiration come from?
I like quiet clothing. I am drawn to the style of androgyny and comfort. I like effortless fashion. When I grow up I will dress like the intriguing Charlotte Gainsbourg.

If you could name one person from the past whose closet you would
love to raid, who would it be?
Kurt Cobain. I am a sucker for sweaters and stripes.

Do you have a blog/website?
Yes. BeatofTravel.com

What makes you an Urban Bush Babe?
I live in the city. My hair is high-spirited and bushy. And I am a total nerdy babe.

Anything else?
Make sure to love yourself. We all come into the world alone and leave that way. Be good to yourself.
