Tell us your name and where you are from?

Malliha (Lovely Mali) I am from a planet called Ventune.

How long have you been natural?

I have been natural all of my life

What do you do? Is there a resistance or compatibility with your hair in your field of work?

I am a model and an artist.  My hair is a part of my brand, it helps me book jobs….it pretty much works in my favor :)

Describe your hair.

Hmmmm…. It is three different textures… In the middle I have wavy long curls, in the front I have fine curls, and towards the ends it just does what it wants! My hair has its own personality…when it wakes up in the morning it decides if it wants to be an oversized Afro…or a calm and collective puff.  All in all, I love it for what it is, and I embrace it on its craziest days.

What is your hair regimen?

I typically just wash and go. I use organic products (mainly Lush cosmetics) and at times, I branch out to try different things so that my hair is not acclimated to one set thing.  I like to leave a bit of conditioner and do a semi-rinse, if I want a ton of volume I do not comb my hair out.  I just allow it to be a huge nest. ^_^

Your best hair advice?

Listen to your hair….observe it…. And see what it is that it truly needs. It will talk to you. Not everything that works for everyone else will work for you. Everyone has his or her own unique and individual grade of hair, pamper it, love it, and embody your natural beauty.  Explore different foods, for example see how avocado works in your hair.  Try to go the natural route…if you cannot pronounce any of the ingredients that are in the product then you probably should not be putting it on your hair.  Have a top 5 list for shampoos and conditioners so that you can switch up on products.  You never want your hair to be acclimated to a certain product…switch it up so that it can take in different ingredients and energy.

What is the strangest comment, request or hair story?

Many people ask me if my hair is real (it is as real as it gets!). I have also had people ask can they pet me…  (No comment).

How would you describe your personal fashion style?

I have a unique style…  I like to mix different cultures into one look.  I love pattern mixing, color blocking, and mixing different textures.  I absolutely love hats…  I pretty much love all accessories.  I really cannot place my finger on a specific category that I fit into…so lets just say I am I!

What advice would you give to people who might be afraid to show their true fashion sense or natural hair for fear of being judged by others?

When you embrace your inner power and discover your light…you have to let it shine!  No one else in this world is like you, so you have to release your true essence and embrace every part of you.  When you are comfortable in your skin, you are unstoppable.  Love all of your imperfections and understand that is what makes you perfection.  When you allow yourself to be… everyone else see’s you for the beauty that you are.  So…live…love…and Be!

What would you say to others who judge individuals negatively for their personal fashion style?

People who judge other’s negatively are just showcasing their insecurities.  I just send those individuals love and light.  Your own personal style is your expression, artistry, and individuality. When people try to fit the mold and judge others…it’s a bit saddening because it shows that they are not comfortable with who they are. All in all it just shows me someone’s character and ego when negative judging takes place. I send all of the negative vampires love, peace, and healing energy.

When it comes to your style who, what or where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration comes from different cultures, tribes, and moods. When I wake up in the morning…I ask myself, what do I want to embody? I am a canvas… and putting together my outfit is like creating a painting. Its art and a form of expression. I do not think about what is in the magazines or the runway….I create my trends….I create my look….and then I display it on the true runway….which is the streets.

If you could name one person from the past whose closet you would love to raid, who would it be?

It would be my mother. She loves fashion and her sense of style is unique. I love everything that she puts together. She has a bit of a shopping problem….but I still love her. My mother has always stepped outside of the box and embraced herself…she is my inspiration :)

Most embarrassing moment

I rarely get embarrassed but if I had to choose… lets see…

When I blank on people’s names. I am not the best at names, and I actually blank every time I shake someone’s hand. The moment someone introduces me to someone or someone introduces themselves to me…It just randomly dissolves. It becomes embarrassing when you see people around after a few times and you have no clue what to say. I end up calling everyone luv. I am great with faces… But I will say that I have come a long way.

What is your favorite life lesson

To ALWAYS listen to yourself. Intuition is the key…we have all of the answers within. We just have to observe, listen, and stay centered.
