Thank you for this. This is beyond helpful. I recently did a 2 1/2 week liquid and smoothie detox, and stupid me wondered what it would feel like to eat mean (right after I’d decided I was giving up meat since I didn’t miss it during the fast), and what happened? My stomach sang an entire opera for two days AND I broke out on my face and shoulders! So I’m back to a no meat lifestyle. This is getting printed and posted on the fridge!

Thanks for this Nikisha! This is helpful. I got my almonds today,yay!! They’re an acquired taste for me, but when it comes to health I suck it up! LOL! Health over taste ALL DAY for me. I’ve been trying to get those meat alternatives in my diet.
What about the argument of complete protein versus incomplete protein? All plant based protein sources are incomplete proteins. This means by themselves they are not biologically useful. You must combine multiple incomplete sources to make it complete. For example, peanut butter is an incomplete vegetable protein. But if you make it a sandwich, you combine it with a wheat based protein and the two together become complete. high protein foods
I recently completed a nutrition course focused on plant-based foods. Your comment that plant based proteins are incomplete or not useful is a common belief, but not entirely correct. While animal protein is processed very efficiently by the body, you can obtain more than enough protein solely from plant-based sources if you consume a healthy variety of vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds and whole grains. You don’t have to combine foods to complete proteins at every meal.
This is a very interesting topic. I have been a vegetarian for 2 months. I just want to find out been vegetarian and non-vegetarian. I think this article would be helpful for my huge step. You have done a great job.
